- Siegfried Museum. The museum is located in the center of the historic old town, in the shadow of the cathedral. The visit is a stroll through the history. On partly over-built historic buildings, the museum houses exhibits from 600 years, showing a dramatic image of each individual era. In the entrance area, remains of the old-time bishoprens can be discovered. From the reconstructed central gate a historic link leads to the mighty tower of the sea, which originally belonged to the late medieval town fortification and served as a prison.
- The Stiftsmuseum Xanten is one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical museums in Germany. It houses the magnificent church treasury of the Xanten St. Viktor-Dom.
- St. Viktor Cathedral. No matter what direction the city is approaching Xanten, it is the first building in the city that can be seen from a distance. It rises majestically above the center of the city: the St. Viktor cathedral.
- LVR Archaeological Park Xanten. Exciting and instructive: The APX offers Roman history as a close-up experience. The Archaeological Park is also a high-ranking research center and a place to relax and play.
- LVR-Roman Museum Xanten. Since its opening in 2008, the LVR Roman Museum has been the heart of the Archaeological Park. Take a look at the unique structure and its fascinating inner life.
Bislich: about 4 km
- Bislicher island, 1,200 hectares of nature reserve, in the winter time are here a lot of Siberian wild geese to be observed

- Volkspark Oermtersberg, very nice for walks, with various animal walks, playgrounds, barbecue facilities and small exhibition to the historical background of the Oermter mountain.
Rheinberg: about 20 km
- TerraZoo - Reptile Zoo with 100 different species and with 400 cold-blooded animals. (Closed on Monday)
Kevelaer: about 20 km
- Northwest Europe's largest Marian pilgrimage site (since 1642), historical city center with the well-known Marian basilica
